House Phase 3 Day 1

The skip I ordered did not turn up yesterday. Well it did but nobody was at the farm to show them were to put it so they did not deliver it. Pain in the arse as I only went out for 10 minutes and that’s when they showed up. Talked to the farmer (who provides this service) and he arranged with them for it to come today. The builders turned up dead on time at 8am shortly followed by the skip. Skip is not quite the right word for it, when it was ordered we asked for the largest one they did. Its truly huge 8 meters long and around 2.5 meters high!!! The entrance to the farm is not small but it took a lot of skill for the driver to reverse in. I was impressed with his ability to drop it right next to the place the rubbish will be coming from. The builders had got wheel barrows before I told them to get on with the house. The guys are great they would have spent all day moving rubbish but I would rather have progress on the house. In a couple of weeks there will be time for them to top up the current skip with any of the other rubbish lying around the place.

Much of the material need to complete the place is already onsite. I have enough solid teak door and window frames to setup my own business. The Joiner was real pleased as he likes quality material, when they found out I had all the brass hinges and quality locks they were real pleased. I went for expensive security for the three outside doors all using the same lock, I hate having different keys for everything.

They built all three door frames and made the windows today, they totted off around 6pm to order the glass which will take four days to be made. Off to the shops tomorrow to buy fastenings, lights and sockets ready for when they have build the rooms. By my estimate they should be well on the way to needing that stuff the week after next.
