Well is now Wednesday and work is progressing well on the Farm. The guys were not working yesterday as they had another job. I got these guys from a good friend of mine who still needs odd jobs doing on his properties so it was not worth kicking up a fuss when he needed a little work doing. Today they have been joined by another guy whose job is to clear away the heap of crap that’s left over from two years of building work. I feel real sorry for the guy just humping crap all day and loading up the vast skip. It will take him a few days to split the wood, the stones and the mixed waste. In Holland you have to pay for the disposal of rubbish at different prices. The most expensive is mixed waste and that’s what’s going in the skip. The local farmer takes the wood for about 1/3 of the price of mixed waste. I need to lay a fair amount of concrete outside so it seems a waste of money putting hardcore in the skip to buy it back later.
Spent yesterday evening at my girlfriends place as her hot water has been off for a couple of days. It was just a matter of unequal pressure in the central heating system. That’s the problem with these modern enclosed combi boilers they shut down if the detect problems. Its probably for the best otherwise you could have a much worse situation than no hot water.
All the parts arrived for the scooter on Monday and I got around to taking them back yesterday not done any work on it yet think I will wait to my mate is back from the US as he has built a number of engines over the years and I do not want to muck it up.
The tradition in Holland is that you provide cakes on your birthday. Most people nip around to the local shop and buy in but I made a carrot cake. Not heard the last of it people are now badgering me to make another one. I’ve always been a dab hand in the kitchen but sometimes it amazes me that people do not make stuff at home any more. I have always made cakes for special occasions it just seems the natural order of things.
