Freaky Friday

Today was a busy day, and its not even over yet. Up at 7:30 and off out to the builders merchants in search of Velux Windows. After checking on the website I managed to track down a number of local dealers but none of them seemed to keep stock of the large GGL P10 windows I was looking for. Managed to track some down to Van Keulen in central Amsterdam, great builders merchant as there was not waiting time. The only problem was with the packaging the windows were way to big for the car. Back off to the farm to get the trailer. Collected the windows and was back at the farm for 10.

Just after I arrived the architect arrived to look at progress and give advice on next steps. Great timing as the plans had to be changed for the windows. Discussed a number of other changes she is very happy with the way things are going. Dropped her off in Amsterdam and then it was on to HGI Glas. Service in Holland can be a strange thing but these guys are fantastic. Ordered the glass on Thursday at 3pm and it was ready to collect at 11:30. They loaded it onto one of their trailers, hitched it up to the car then back off to the farm again. The boys had already fitted one of the Velux windows by this time. Then it was back off to Amsterdam again to drop off the trailer.

Stopped in at the scooter shop to see about the engine. The new 100cc piston was showing signs of damage already and the guy showed me the damage the oversized piston had done to the engine. Decided to swap it for a 75cc which will not stress all the parts so much. The part was not in stock so will have to wait a week or so before its back on the road.

Grabbed a bite to eat from a service station then back on the road to the farm. Collected the trailer again and went to Bouwmaat to collect 40 bags of plaster. As soon as I had loaded the 40 bags onto the trailer I saw a huge thunderstorm coming up from the coast. Back into Bouwmaat to buy a cover for the trailer. Just in time, I got soaked making sure everything was tied down correctly fortunately the bags of plaster stayed dry.

Back to the farm with the plaster once again just in time to meet up with my mate who is supplying the lighting control system for the living room. It’s an automatic dimming unit that can be controlled from a touch plate or from an infrared controller. It allows four sets of light to be independently dimmed to fit your mood. Task lighting will be provided by conventional wall switches.

Sat down at the PC for ten minutes to type this note then its off upstairs to remove the last few items before the guys start plastering tomorrow. Then I need to start catching up on my reading for the MBA. Hopefully things will slow down soon.
