Dentist Day

With all the new things going on at work, I've had to do some work. Its nice for a change but I'm sure that the novelty will not last. My new boss appears to be more switched on than I thought will see how things go but I'm tempted to make a career change as I think I've had my day with IT. Much of yesterday was spent working on new architectural modules I have no idea why we cannot just take one off the shelf and use that rather than come up with our own. After a lifetime of reading different modules I find the work done by Cutter Consortium to be some of the most accessible. It is somewhat helpful to me directly but more useful to explain to the none IT guys who run the business the whole context of Enterprise Architecture.

Whatever we decided it’s a case of get on do rather than spend months looking at 101 different options and trying to over engineer a module. I find colleges are more inclined to talk than get their feet wet which for me is the only way to refine the module. It seems to be a series of endless meetings about agreeing single words while all can agree on the main direction. I’m also picking up developing the Standards process which should be an interesting couple of days. The best part is I do not have to run it afterwards so in my terms a real result.

Much of the day was lost a long needed trip to the dentist. It seems like ages since I tried to get an appointment to get some work done. Not sure I’d do a one and half hour appointment again but it was all fine and at least the work again. Talking to the dentist it was funny to hear he hates going to the dentist and he has been putting off his next trip. So it seems nobody likes it.
