Over Greenland

At the time of writing I’m just over Greenland on the way to the RSA Conference 2005. I was not looking forward to flying British Airways not because I have anything against them more the fact that I had to get a flight to the UK then onwards to San Francisco rather than flying direct. Pain in the arse and adds some two hours to what is already a long journey, Get into town around 5pm local time then it’s a quick drive downtown to the hotel. Its been a good flight so far as BA have beds and I always feel special when flying upstairs.
Last year I was on the conference board for the European RSA conference and at the one I’m attending I make the founders circle. Not sure what that all means but its free. Not managed to make one of the gala’s this year took the tux out of its wrapping had a look then decided better of it. After some 38 years of not attending his sort of event I thought why change the habit of a life time. The tux is a recent purchase for one reason and one reason only. I had made a rash statement that I would never wear one and then my ex girlfriend made issue of it. Last time I was in the US I spent a small fortune on the whole outfit with shoes, shirt studs and cuff links. It does not seem the same wearing it without her on my arm so I decided to wrap it up and leave it in storage for another time.
Things between us are going much better right now and I realize how much I do love her. Once I have sorted out the mess that is my life I hope we can get back together. Its time for both of us to move on, I’ve been with my current employer now for some 5 years. Progression has been good and I’m not seen as a total idiot but there is nothing for me in the long run. With age creeping up on me its time to move again and get another step up the slippery pole.
Will be a good trip as one of the guys I work with is traveling with me. This guy worked for me at my last firm and we both contracted at the current employer for about a year. When I jumped ship I was always on at this guy to come across. Two years later and once more he’s working for me or just getting paid to laugh at me I’m never sure which. From memory this is only the second trip away the last time was doing something with one of the large UK Telco’s in the mid 90’s. Mammoth game of Command and Conquer Yuri’s Revenge did not play each other as I would have got a right kicking. This used to be my old companies game 8 guys staying after work kicking the hell out of each other. These days its more BFV or 1942.
