It’s been a week since my last blog main reason is that ive been off work and not really had much energy to write anything. Had some kinda of virus well that’s what the ever helpful doctor tells me. I got tablets to stop me hugging the toilet and antibiotics to fight the infection but nothing to counter the headaches ive been suffering from. The sickness has cleared up but the left side headache has returned. I was diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic 3 years ago with a blood sugar of 14.4. I was put on a course of tablets and was told I would be on them for the rest of my life. The tablets would stop working after they had stretched my pancreas to far then it would have to be six shots of insulin a day. I just could not stand the idea of that so set about looking for a cure. The first thing they tell you are there is no cure once a type 2 always a type 2. At the time I weighed some 110 kilos and had a size 38 waste. After a year of following a strict diet and doing more exercise I had a weight of 78 kilos and a waste of 32 but better than anything a blood sugar average of 5.4 with no readings over the magic 7. They are not sure what brings on diabetes but much research points to diet, exercise and stress. Over the last couple of weeks I have been not eating so well and been putting myself under a lot of stress so im thinking that could be the reason for the sharp pains in the left hand side of my head. I also have hypertension in my left arm and left leg another sign. Ive also been smoking way to much another bad thing for my system. So today it’s back on the careful six small meals a day. Its funny you work real hard to get your health under control then you let things slide for a while I guess this is some sort of wake up call.
No real progress on anything much, the scooter engine is rebuilt but im still waiting for the piston rings to come in from the UK. I ordered them over a week ago but I got a message on Thursday that lead me to believe they had not processed the order. I tried to get the DR Racing Parts in Holland but none of the four resellers listed stocked the kit that I have. Taking the engine from 50 to 110 may seem a big step but the engine is designed to be between an 80 and 125 so the bottom end is well within tolerance. I hope the bits come in over the next couple of day so I can pop the head on and bolt the engine back into the frame. It’s been off the road for nearly a month the whole job should have only taken a couple of days.
